The Idea
THE SAN FRANCISCO FILM MUSEUM IS DEDICATED TO:
- Advocating for the preservation of irreplaceable films and equipment, and a state-of-the-art repository for donations of historic films, related items, and oral histories from public and private sources.
- Introducing the public to the films, locations, theaters, equipment, and people of the Bay Area’s cinematic past.
- Honoring the diverse individuals and communities who have made contributions to film and art of the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Engaging the public, students, filmmakers, artists and technicians who are continually rewriting the history of film in the Bay Area.
The San Francisco Film Museum is a non-profit organization that chronicles the rich heritage of film making in San Francisco. Through education and examination of the art and science of these motion pictures, the Museum seeks to inspire innovation that will advance the future of film and digital media in the San Francisco Bay Area.
